Project Hub

Retirement Planning Hub

Retirement projection, contribution, and distribution calculators plus plain-English guides, all updated for 2026 IRS limits and SECURE 2.0 rules.

A retirement plan is easier to build piece by piece than all at once. Project the number you need, optimize the contributions that get you there, and then plan the income and distribution side once you are close. This hub pairs each calculator with the guide that explains the rule behind it, all on confirmed 2026 figures from IRS Notice 2025-67, IRS Publication 590-B, and Rev. Proc. 2025-32.

Start with the retirement calculator to size the target portfolio, then use the 401(k) and Roth IRA calculators to plan contributions, and the RMD, inherited IRA, and Roth conversion calculators to plan the distribution phase.

Common questions

What is the 2026 401(k) contribution limit?
The employee deferral limit is 24,500 dollars in 2026, with an 8,000 dollar catch-up for age 50 and over, and an enhanced 11,250 dollar catch-up for ages 60 to 63 under SECURE 2.0.
What is the 2026 Roth IRA contribution limit?
7,500 dollars in 2026, plus a 1,100 dollar catch-up for age 50 and over, for a total of 8,600 dollars. Direct contributions phase out from 153,000 to 168,000 of modified AGI for single filers and 242,000 to 252,000 for married filing jointly.
When do RMDs start?
Age 73 under SECURE 2.0 for anyone reaching 73 between 2023 and 2032, rising to 75 in 2033. The first RMD can be delayed to April 1 of the following year, but that forces two RMDs into the same tax year.

Sources and methodology

2026 retirement plan limits (401(k), IRA, catch-up) come from IRS Notice 2025-67. RMD divisors come from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table in IRS Publication 590-B. Bracket boundaries and phase-out thresholds are cross-checked against IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32. See our full methodology page for how we source and review each figure.
