Editorial Policy

Editorial standards, review cadence, independence, and correction handling for Useful Everyday Calculators.

Who writes and reviews the site

Calculators, guides, and hubs are written and reviewed by the Useful Everyday Calculators editorial team. Every calculator is reviewed against its source formula. Every guide is reviewed against widely accepted planning conventions or a cited primary source.

Independence

We do not accept sponsored calculators, sponsored guides, or paid placements. Some pages show display advertising through Google AdSense. Ad selection is automated and does not influence editorial content. If a page includes an affiliate or partner link, it is disclosed on the page.

Sources and citations

Where a calculator depends on a published figure (IRS brackets, CMS IRMAA tiers, SSA COLA, NRCS soil guidance, ISA mulching best practices), the source is named on the calculator page and again in the site-wide methodology page. Where a calculation depends on a convention (waste factors, standard densities), we state the assumption inside the assumptions block on the calculator itself.

Review cadence

  • Tax, retirement, and Medicare calculators: reviewed each January.
  • Home project calculators: reviewed at least annually and after any reader-reported issue.
  • Guides and hubs: reviewed at least annually.

Every page shows its last review date. Material changes are logged on the updates page.

Corrections

We publish a corrections page and act on reader reports. Substantive corrections are logged with the date and a short description of what changed and why.

Scope of advice

Nothing on this site is financial, tax, legal, engineering, or medical advice. Calculators produce planning estimates using the inputs you provide. Personal decisions, tax filings, and construction work should be confirmed with an appropriately licensed professional.
