Assumptions
Sand is sold by the ton at bulk yards and by the 50 lb bag at home centers. The two are hard to compare without a volume conversion, which is what this calculator does. Enter the area and depth once, and the result panel shows cubic yards for bulk delivery, 50 lb bag count for a home-center run, and weight in tons.
A paver installation uses two very different materials: a 4 to 6 inch compacted crushed-stone base, and a 1 inch bedding-sand layer on top of it. Use this calculator for the bedding sand only. Size the base with the paver base calculator.
